Chipping of nails

The reasons behind chipping of nails are many but in most of the cases the culprit is insufficient minerals and vitamins in our diet. The other major reasons could be climate changes (sudden changes in temperatures or extreme weather conditions), side effects of diseases like psoriasis or yeast infections on skin, doing a job that requires frequent immersion of hands in water, some kinda regular chemical exposure like pest control, using cheap nail paints or nail care products that contains formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate.

Solutions:

·        Lets focus on the dietary issues first. Make sure that your every day diet consists of a large number of vitamins (like A,E and B) and minerals like zinc, calcium, iron and biotin. Biotin is critical to nail growth and the sources of this mineral are: Egg yolk, fish, cauliflower, lentils, soybeans, pea nut butter etc. Usually a vegan diet has to be monitored carefully if nails are chipping off (take supplements of above mentioned vitamins and minerals) .
viz: HealthAidNail-Vit Capsules  etc

·        In a lot of cases, the rich lotions are perfect to be rubbed on finger nails in morning and evening everyday. Products like Cuticle cure from Nail Aid are perfect for this kinda practice.

·        Nail care products like Nail Aid’s Peeling Nail Intense Repair Gel or vedic line cuticleand nail cream  etc.

Home remedies:

1. Gently rub the chipped/brittle nails with a cotton ball immersed in olive or castor oil

2. Soaking of the nails in luke warm salt water for some time. And then applying a good moisturizing cream or tea tree oil on nails is very beneficial.

3. Avoid acetone on a regular basis as they tend to strip off fingernails of moisture and make them dry.

Have beautiful and healthy nails………………: ) agoodstuff

10 tips to increase volume in hair:

Pollution, variations in weather conditions, harmonic changes, unbalanced diets, improper selection of shampoos and a lot of other factors are responsible for hair fall and hence the overall depletion of the volume of your hair. Thin hair has to be treated internally by proper diet and consultation with your hair specialists, Ayurvedic or Homeopathy Doctors.
I have some smart ways to give some volume to your hair. Go thru them, they are easy and definitely gonna help you out:
·       Use volumizing shampoos(KérastaseGL Revitalizing Shampoo, Loreal Professional Volumizing Shampoo,Marc Anthony Thickening Shampoo, Joico Luxe Thickening Shampoo, Kiehl’s Ultimate Thickening Shampoo, Matrix Amplify volumizing shampoo, Himalaya volumizing shampoo, Fat Hair Thickening Shampoo, Nexxus Thickening Shampoo and many more) and use conditioner also by keeping away from hair roots and towards the middle and tail part.
·       Flip wet hair after shower and then use towel to dry it up. Lift the roots up by wrapping a towel for 5-10 minutes.
·       Use jaw clips to tie up the front hair and their roots to make a puff and then redo the making of puff with some more or less front hair to avoid kinks. Let your hair dry with natural air and whenever you plan to move out just remove the clips and comb them slightly and see the bouncy effect.( pic a)

·       To create bounciness and volume in front, hold the front mid section hair in upward direction and then do some up & down brushing of the back layers of this section(close to roots) with a narrow bristled comb. Release the front layer over it and pin up this layer at the back making puff.
·       If using a dryer, hold the front middle section of hair upwards and then blow dry the roots (pic b) .
·       In - Salon treatments are also very effective(if comes in budget) as they volumizes fine hair with nutrients, with chemicals which reconstructs the hair fibre.
·       Sleep in loose, tucked in braids! This not only keeps your hair hugging each other, but you'll wake up with pretty waves in the morning and can skip heating tools all together! Try a small, clear elastic at your ends.
·       Use a curler beneath your front mid section wet hair and keep it for few hours to get a big volume in front.
·       Some women don’t comb in wet hair and let them dry as such. This automatically increases the volume in hair but sometimes it weakens the hair while taking out kinks.
·       Avoid high ponytails as you might loose a lot of front hair or will have a sunflower look (as pulling your hair back tightly tends to break fragile front hair and an all day high ponytail will just increase the trouble of short, whispy hair in front.
Try up any or all these techniques and style up your hair in smarter ways to give them volume and good looks......................: ) agoodstuff

Online anarkali suits shopping in India

Festivals like Teej, Rakshabandhan, Id and a lot more are coming ahead this season. Indian festivals are full of colorful clothes, sweets, mingling with friends and relatives and a lot of fun. Today I have a nice collection of suits from different online shops that can help you in taking some shopping decisions regarding clothes. I have already made my mind to buy one. I did a small exercise and explored a lot of sites and found some beautiful collections.
Some of them are offering discounts, have a wide collection to choose from and aCOD facility on most of the dresses. Just browse through the below mentioned suits and look which one appeals you.
Brothers , husbands, daddy-----can also choose one for your loved ones and surprise her with a color that you think looks best on her. I think asking a boy (bro, husband or papa) for a color to choose from is a difficult task so you better ask a color choice from your relatives or friends and then gift them. We (Indians) have a lot of festivals ahead but make your mood fast as a few of them are falling this month only.

Gift your near and dear ones:

Skin and hair care in rainy season

Monsoon/rainy season is the best time for rejuvenation of the cells and the systems of the body, if treated well. A good skin care regime and the body massages can release tension from body and improve circulation.

Face care:

Basic principle for all skin types is to keep the skin clean and dirt free but limit washing to 2-3 times in case of oily skin as it will stimulate the oil glands to produce more sebum.

For Oily skin:
Scrubbing: Try soft scrubs as the hard ones would leave the open pores more damaged. The use of dried lemon or orange peels scrub works great if gently rubbed on the skin.
Toning: Lavender oil is good for oily skin. It has to be diluted with water and the proportion would be 10:1 respectively. Apply it on face for 5 mins and then wash it with cold water.
Massage: The papaya, cucumber or watermelon massage is best for the oily skins.
Face Pack :The fullers earth pack with rose water, besan (gram flour) with curd and pinch of turmeric pack works great, sandalwood powder with rose water pack , Crushed tomato and fullers earth(multani mitti) can also be used as a face pack for oily skin.
Moisturizing: Use serums rather than moisturizers to keep oily skins hydrated. A water based moisturizer is better for this skin than a cream based moisturizer.
For homemade moisturizer, prepare a mix of 2-3 drops of strawberry or orange oil with 2 spoons of rose water, apply it on skin and wash after 5-10 mins
Serums available in market are: Clinique – Dramatically different moisturizing gel; derma e hyaluronic acid hydrating serum; Clean & Clear oil free moisturizer ; Avon – Clearskin; almay – daily moisturizer; L’oreal hydrafresh anti-shine, H2O face oasis hydrating treatment and there are many more which can also be used.

.

For dry skin:
Scrubbing:  Use crushed almonds with honey/oatmeal with homey and rosewater/ crushed strawberry seeds with milk cream to remove the dead cells.
Toning: To open the small pores of dry skin, use a mixture of milk and chamomile in 1:2 ratio and gently put on the skin with a cotton swab and feel the soothing effect.
Massage: A mixture of banana and honey/a mixture of raw honey, olive or almond oil with 1 tsp of lemon juice; can be massaged on face for a perfect glow.
Face Pack:  Apply a paste made up of equal parts of jojoba oil with honey and curd/ a paste of wheat bran with crushed almonds and milk in equal quantities/ a paste of soaked and grinded almonds with milk cream
Moisturizing: Moisturizing is very important part for dry skins so use a a home moisturizer like glycerin and rose water in equal parts and keep it for 10-15 mins.

Hair care during rainy season:
Another important thing to be taken care of during this season is the problem of hair fall. A proper massage would help to keep your hair shiny, healthy and strong by infusing moisturizer into the scalp.
*Coconut oil and castor oil massage will make hair soft and silky
*few drops of peppermint oil or rosemary oil to massage oil mediums like almond or olive oil can work wonders if you have hair loss.

Golden rule:  Drink 8-10 glasses of water every day to keep your skin hydrated and eat lots of fresh fruits and salads to be healthy from inside and outside …………….keep radiating in all seasons………..chao…..……: )-agoodstuff

How to take care of skin in summers?

As the scorching heat is increasing with the rising temperatures, some special care is required to keep skin beautiful and glowing. The 90% of wrinkles are caused by sunrays as they penetrate the skin’s deepest layer and damage the elastin & collagen which keeps the skin firm.
Below are some of the methods to project and rejuvenate your skin in summers:

Keep yourself hydrated:
As your body tends to lose a lot of moisture in the summer, so it’s important to regularly replenish it by drinking lots of fluids to keep the skin soft, fresh & moisturized.

Use of Sunscreen/ Sunblock

Use sunscreens whenever you go out in summers. It’s really important to save your skin from harmful UV rays and to have a flawless and non pigmented skin.

Skin Cleansing and exfoliating

The skin cleansing tips given below are suitable for all skin types:
a. Oats help to unclog pores and keep oily skin in check. Grind it and mix it with watermelon juice. Massage it gently all over your face and rinse it with regular water.
b. Adding Flaxseed oil or roasted flaxseed powder to the salads/vegetables /curd/buttermilk regulates the sebaceous glands and thus the oil production from them.
c. Keep some grinded rice in a bottle. Use a spoonful of rice with a few drops of tomato juice and use it to cleanse your skin.

Toning of skin

The easily available fruits of summers: Watermelon & coconut water, are both natural skin coolants and make excellent toners so make maximum use of them by eating, drinking and applying these on the skin.
Watermelon juice-   Make juice of watermelon after taking out the seeds and then mix it with rose water in 2:1 ratio.
Coconut water- Take coconut water, mix with some rose water & store it in a spray bottle in the fridge……use it within 2-3 days.

Cucumber Toner- Mix equal portions of cucumber juice and lemon juice and store it in refrigerator. Cucumber hydrates, soothes and balances out the effect that lemon can sometimes have on sensitive skin.

For A Healthy Glow

Papaya pack- Mix 2 teaspoon of mashed papaya with one tsp of honey and 1 egg white and apply it on your face and neck. Leave this mixture on your face for about 15 minutes and then wash with normal water.

Mango pack- A mango face mask can be prepared for soft and glowing skin by blending 2 table spoon over ripe mango pulp, two teaspoons of milk, 4-5 soaked almonds, and fullers earth (multani mitti). Keep this mask for 15-20 mins and then wash with cold water.

Strawberry pack- To get a glowing and radiating skin, strawberry: which is  full of anti oxidants (acts as an anti-aging and skin repair), is used as a beauty face pack.
Mash ½ cup strawberries with 1 tablesp of milk and 1 tablesp of rice flour/ cornstarch /all purpose flour(maida) and make a smooth pate of it. Spread this pack on face and neck and wash it after 20 mins.

Keep glowing with flawless skin ……………………………: )

Home remedies for sun tan removal

We recently visited GOA and got fully tanned at the beautiful beaches. Though we used sun screen lotions and blocks, still we got tanned badly. The anti tan lotions with a SPF factor between ( 25-35) are good enough to protect your skin, for children, SPF of (15-30) is pretty ok; but in our case we stayed for longer hours at the beaches so none of the blocks or sunscreens worked so well.
Precautions are always better than cure but in any case as we got the tan, it has to be removed. I personally used and recommended the below stated safe home remedies for all my family members and friends and within 15-20 days there was a noticeable change in our complexion.

Home Remedies for removing tan(try 2-3 remedies on an alternate basis to check which works best on your skin):

  • Apply a mixture of  gram flour(2 tablesps), lemon juice(1 teasp) on the face and other affected areas,
  • Use mixture of cucumber juice(1 tablesp) and curd(2 table sps) on the tanned areas and leave it for 10 mins and then scrub it with little choker(wheat bran) and badaam oil. Wash the areas with cold water. Do it every 5th day.
  • Apply a mixture of honey and lemon juice, massage it into skin and wash it after 5 minutes only.
  • Regularly using fresh coconut water to wash the face and other affected areas, improves the complexion.
  • Try not to go in sun to decrease the melanin production under your skin and keep using tomato, cucumber juices to massage your skin everyday for 5-10 minutes.
  • Apply a mixture of oats and butter milk, exfoliate it and then wash with cold water.
  • Using raw milk with lemon juice also helps in reducing the sun tan or sun burn from your skin. Avoid rubbing it on skin if its a sun burn and you have flaky skin. In this case, apply the mixture softly with cotton, let it dry and then wash it gently with cold water.

  • If you have any other home remedy that magic wonders, please do share it with us...............agoodstuff:)
